What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a conservative, hands-on healthcare profession with an emphasis on the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions. The musculoskeletal system includes: muscles, joints, nerves, ligaments, tendons, bones and how they all function together. Your chiropractic care may involve the use of adjustments, or spinal manipulative therapy, to help reduce pain and allow your joints to move freely, so you can return to the activities you love.
What is an Adjustment?
An adjustment is a highly skilled, gentle movement which involves briefly taking a joint just past its normal end range of motion. Chiropractors must perform extensive training to master this skill. Adjustments help to restore motion to restricted joint segments (improving range of motion), help to reduce pain, improve range of motion and reduce local muscle tightness. Joint Mobilizations are often used as a substitution for those who may not feel comfortable with an adjustment. An adjustment is just one of many tools that a Chiropractor may utilize in your plan of management depending on the findings from your thorough history and physical examination.
